Monitoring driver fatigue: How to be awake when driving.

Driving whilst you are fatigued is very risky. It is like trying to sleep on a tightrope — dangerous and difficult to predict. When you are tired, you are likely to make errors that could cost you dearly. And do not miss the outside world. Make sure that you are in the right seat, the mirrors are adjusted, and inside is pleasant. You will not focus well when driving, in case you are not comfortable. When you are tired, you mind will be wandering whether your back is sore, maybe you are too hot or cold. Comfort in little amounts is a lot. It is a kind of getting dressed in case you are going to take a long ride in a car: you want everything to be fine so that you could have fun.

It is also very important to make your brain active. Great lengths of highway may put you into a trance. To combat that, play music, have a podcast, or even have someone in the car to talk to. Keep your mind busy not to fall asleep. Just don’t go too far. Just as much as too little can cause you to be too mentally stimulated can too much. Make it even.

To be awake, you may also use tech. These are only a few of the many functionalities that make the driving of a modern car less demanding and stressful. These are the tools that will not make you wake up, however, they can be useful to help you remember when you are tired. It is like having a co-pilot to have some one looking over your back.

Lastly, be aware of what you have the capability to and what you cannot do. There is no need to ignore it in case you think that you cannot help keeping your eyes open. Get a secure place to sleep; even though it could only be a few minutes. The road will not disappear when you are ready, and you are much better off taking your time than to hurry up.

To overcome driver fatigue, you should make the correct decisions and care about your body. Sleep, drink plenty of water, eat little, get comfortable and keep the mind busy. The information about what is happening on the road is not just a personal safety issue, and it is life and death.
